What is solvent dyes and its application?

 

Solvent dyes refer to colored substances that are insoluble in water but can be dissolved in organic solvents. It is a kind of dye, which is insoluble in water but soluble in oils or organic lozenges. Solvent dyes can be divided into two categories: oil-soluble and alcohol-soluble.


Solvent dyes


From the point of view of chemical structure, azo dyes are mainly used in yellow, orange, brown and red, and there are also bright red xanthene and triphenylmethane dyes. Blue and green are mainly anthraquinone, triphenylmethane, azine, thiazine and phthalocyanine dyes. Nigrosine in the azine series is an important black solvent dye.

 

Divided into three series according to the type of solvent, namely:

(1) It is insoluble in water but soluble in alcohols. Bright color, generally used for the coloring of alcohols, belonging to type A

(2) Special dyes for coloring oils and fats, U-shaped

(3) Dyestuffs suitable for coloring of paraffin, belong to W type.

 

Solvent dyes are mainly used for the coloring of wood and plastics, but also for the coloring of transparent paints, inks, fats, oils, waxes, soaps, petroleum products and aerosols: aluminum foil, leather, etc. It can also be used for the coloring of the original pulp of synthetic fibers.
