Review of woolen export market in 2020

In the whole year of 2020, in addition to ASEAN, several major domestic woolen products markets: Europe, the United States, and Japan, the total imports of various processed wool products have shown a decline of more than 30%.

From January to November, the United States imported 2.5 billion US dollars of wool processing products, a year-on-year decrease of 34.9%. Among them, imports from China fell 44.8% year-on-year. The share is 28%, a decrease of 4 percentage points from 2019. Products from the European Union, India and ASEAN accounted for 27%, 16% and 9% of the total imports of the United States, respectively, with declines of 32%, 32% and 36% respectively.

Japan's imported wool processing products totaled US$1.6 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 34.2%. Among them, imports from China fell 40.2% year-on-year, with a share of 40%, a decrease of 4 percentage points from the same period last year. Products from the EU and ASEAN accounted for 26% and 24% of Japan's total imports, respectively, with a decrease of 34% and 29% respectively.

According to China Customs data, from January to November 2020, domestic exports of woolen raw materials and products totaled USD 9.33 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 18%. Among them, the total export volume of various processed wool products was 156,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 24.6%; the total export value was US$4.23 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 32.4%.
