Why is the fastness of disperse dyeing poor?

Disperse dyeing is mainly about high temperature and high pressure when dyeing polyester fibers. Although disperse dye molecules are small, it cannot be guaranteed that all dye molecules enter the fiber during dyeing. Some disperse dyes will adhere to the fiber surface, resulting in poor fastness. Reduction cleaning is used to destroy the dye molecules that have not entered the fiber to improve fastness and color light.


Polyester fabrics are usually required to be reduced and cleaned after dyeing with disperse dyes, especially medium and dark dyeing, in order to fully remove floating colors and oligomers remaining on the surface of the fabric and improve color fastness. Blended fabrics generally refer to yarns blended from two or more components, so this kind of fabric has the advantages of these two components. And by adjusting the proportion of the components, more characteristics of one of the components can be obtained.


Blended generally refers to short fiber blends, that is, two fibers of different components are mixed together in the form of short fibers. For example: polyester-cotton blended fabrics, also commonly called T/C, CVC.T/R, etc. It is woven with yarn blended with polyester staple fibers and cotton fibers or man-made fibers. Its advantages are: it has the appearance and feel of pure cotton cloth, weakens the chemical fiber luster and chemical fiber feel of polyester cloth, and improves the level.


Improved color fastness. Since polyester cloth is dyed at high temperature, its color fastness is higher than that of pure cotton, so the color fastness of polyester-cotton blended cloth is also improved compared with that of pure cotton. However, to improve the color fastness of polyester-cotton cloth, reduction cleaning (the so-called R/C) must be done, which is the post-treatment after high-temperature dyeing and dispersion. Only after reduction cleaning can the ideal color fastness be achieved.


Staple fiber blending allows the characteristics of each component to be evenly exerted. Similarly, other component blends can also exert their own advantages to achieve some functional, comfortable or economic requirements. However, in high-temperature disperse dyeing, polyester-cotton blended cloth is blended with cotton or rayon fibers, and the dyeing temperature cannot be higher than that of pure polyester cloth. When polyester-cotton or polyester-cotton rayon cloth is stimulated by strong alkali or insurance powder, the fiber strength or tearing force will drop sharply, and it is difficult to achieve product quality in subsequent links.
